  • Consent - we have permission from you after we gave you all the relevant information. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to object. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Contract - we have to collect or use the information so we can enter into or carry out a contract with you. All of your data protection rights may apply except the right to object.

How long we keep information

  • We keep information only as required for confirming enrollment and ensuring certification. Dietary and accommodation information is to ensure arrangements will be comfortable for participants and will not be stored any longer than necessary.  Once this data is processed it will be deleted, no longer than 3 months.

Sharing information outside the UK

In rare cases we may have to transfer personal information outside of the UK (such as making an enquiry about issues with a participant's certification). When doing so, we comply with the UK GDPR, making sure appropriate safeguards are in place and inform you.

How the transfer complies with UK data protection law: 

Gillian Hunter MRCVS will not directly transfer any data you give us outside the UK to these organisations or anyone else overseas.  However, in order to be certified by the Recover Initiative students will be required to register and complete their online training through the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical care learning website and upload their completion certificates to the Recover Initiative website in order to ensure that the requirements for certification are met. Certification and educational material will be emailed to students by Recover Initiative once they have successfully passed the in-person workshop.  Both of these organisations are located in the USA but are not registered under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Transfer of this data is the responsibility of the course participant and will not be transferred directly.
